President Presents Letters of Credence to Lithuania’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Ernestas Mickus
President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda presented letters of credence to Ernestas Mickus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Arab Emirates and the State of Qatar, and Permanent Representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
During the meeting with Ambassador Mickus, the President discussed the advancement of Lithuania’s interests in the strategically important Persian Gulf region. The President emphasised the need to maintain an active political dialogue with the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, promote economic cooperation and investment in high-technology sectors, expand opportunities for Lithuanian businesses, and enhance Lithuania’s visibility in the region. He also underscored the importance of safeguarding Lithuanian citizens and ensuring effective consular assistance, while encouraging the Ambassador to make full use of the opportunities offered by Lithuania’s membership in IRENA in the fields of green transformation and innovation.
Ernestas Mickus has served in Lithuania’s diplomatic service since 1997. During his career, he has held positions at the Lithuanian Embassies in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Kingdom of Sweden, the Consulate General of Lithuania in St Petersburg, and various departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Most recently, he served as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the Federal Republic of Germany.
