Lithuanian community discussed the importance of Lithuanian language education during a meeting in Abu Dhabi

On October 15, a Lithuanian community meeting was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), where Lithuanian Ambassador Ramūnas Davidonis discussed the importance of non-formal Lithuanian education in the region and the possibilities of bringing together a community of Lithuanian professionals in UAE.

"We are proud to have entrepreneurial and high-achieving Lithuanian diaspora representatives in the UAE. In today's world, bilingualism, and especially knowledge of the Lithuanian language, opens pathways and is a strong investment in the future of children," said Ambassador Davidonis. According to the Ambassador, the Lithuanian community is an important link between Lithuania and the UAE.

The meeting with the community took place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and the UAE, which will be celebrated on 16 October.

According to official data, there are about 1,000 Lithuanians and people of Lithuanian origin living in the UAE.
