Lithuania and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mark the 20th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations
On 31 October 2025, the Republic of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, H.E. Mr. Kęstutis Budrys, sent a congratulatory letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, highlighting the importance of mutual respect and trust that have guided the cooperation between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, highlighting the importance of mutual respect and trust that have guided the cooperation between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
“Over the past two decades, our bilateral relations have evolved into a solid partnership built on dialogue, respect, and a shared aspiration to strengthen peace and understanding among nations. Lithuania remains committed to further advancing cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the fields of sustainable development, innovation, economy, energy transition, and culture,” wrote Minister Kęstutis Budrys.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Mr. Ramūnas Davidonis, noted: “Over twenty years, our countries have built a strong bridge of trust founded on mutual respect and dialogue. This anniversary offers an excellent opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved and to renew our efforts toward deeper economic, technological, and cultural cooperation. I am confident that the ties between Lithuania and Saudi Arabia will continue to grow stronger, creating shared benefits and new opportunities for both nations.”
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recognized the independence of the Republic of Lithuania on 16 September 1991, and diplomatic relations were formally established on 31 October 2005. The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the United Arab Emirates is accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
