Lithuania and Iraq Mark the Twentieth Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations
On 19 January 2026, Lithuania and Iraq mark the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, sent a congratulatory message to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Fuad Mohammad Hussein.
“Over the past two decades, relations between Lithuania and Iraq have developed steadily in a spirit of mutual trust, respect, and constructive dialogue. This anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress achieved and to reaffirm our shared commitment to further strengthening the friendly ties between our two countries,” Minister Kęstutis Budrys wrote in his message.
The Minister also stressed that Lithuania values its relations with the Republic of Iraq and remains ready to further deepen bilateral dialogue and partnership based on mutual interests. Looking ahead, there are promising opportunities to expand cooperation in the areas of trade, digital transformation, energy, education, and other fields.
