Future UAE Diplomats Introduced to Lithuania and Its Ties with the Gulf Region
On 22 June 2026, a group of trainees from the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) of the United Arab Emirates visited the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Abu Dhabi.
During the visit, the future UAE diplomats were introduced to Lithuania, its history, statehood, membership in the European Union and NATO, foreign policy priorities, and Lithuania’s role in the world. Embassy staff also presented the practical work of the Embassy, including the representation of Lithuania’s interests in the UAE and the wider Gulf region.
“It is very important for us that future diplomats of the United Arab Emirates have the opportunity to become better acquainted with Lithuania — not only as a member of the European Union and NATO, but also as an open, modern, innovative and reliable partner. We are delighted to welcome AGDA trainees to the Lithuanian Embassy in Abu Dhabi for the third year in a row, and we hope that this partnership will continue to grow stronger in the future,” said Giedrius Jokubauskis, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the UAE.
The meeting focused on Lithuania - UAE bilateral relations, their development, and opportunities for further cooperation. Particular attention was given to areas with strong potential for growth, including innovation, life sciences, food security, renewable energy, logistics, education and other fields. The trainees were also introduced to Lithuania’s experience in strengthening economic resilience and energy independence, as well as the country’s contribution to upholding international law and the rules-based international order.
The trainees showed interest in Lithuania’s diplomatic experience, the country’s foreign policy priorities, regional cooperation, and practical aspects of diplomatic work.
The Lithuanian Embassy in Abu Dhabi highly values its continued cooperation with the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy. The meetings with AGDA trainees, held for the third year in a row, have become a meaningful tradition of public and academic diplomacy, helping to strengthen Lithuania’s visibility in the United Arab Emirates, foster deeper mutual understanding, and build lasting connections with the future generation of UAE diplomats.
