Ambassador Ramunas Davidonis presents his letters of credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait
On 1 June, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania Ramūnas Davidonis presented his letters of credence to H.E. Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Kuwait.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Davidonis welcomed the fact that Lithuania and Kuwait will celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024. "We will continue to create opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Kuwait and Lithuania, especially by promoting bilateral trade and investment," said Ambassador. Mr Davidonis also thanked Kuwait for country's principled position on Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
During the meeting, the Ambassador also conveyed the invitation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait of the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, to pay an official visit to Lithuania.
During his visit to Kuwait, Ambassador Davidonis also met with H.E. Mohammad Yaqoub Hayatee, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister For Europe Affairs, and Mr. Emad Abdullah Al Zaid, Deputy Director General of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
On 5 April 1994, Kuwait recognised the restored independent state of Lithuania and bilateral diplomatic relations were established.
