A repatriation flight has taken off from Dubai to Vilnius
A "flydubai" aircraft has departed from Dubai for Vilnius on 6 March, carrying around 120 Lithuanian citizens, as well as citizens of Latvia and Estonia, with a total of 166 passengers on board.
The flight was organised as a targeted, limited repatriation, prioritising the most vulnerable groups of people. Up to 75 percent of the cost of the chartered flight arranged by Lithuania will be covered by European Union funds, as the aircraft is also transporting citizens of other EU Member States.
Diplomats from the Embassy of Lithuania in the United Arab Emirates, who were present at Dubai International Airport, assisted passengers with registration for the evacuation flight and helped resolve practical issues on site.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy in the UAE continue to assist Lithuanian citizens who remain in the region. Efforts are ongoing to secure available seats on flights to Lithuania or other safe destinations, and consultations are taking place with partner countries that may be able to accommodate Lithuanian citizens on their evacuation flights. Citizens are informed immediately when new departure opportunities arise.
Where possible, citizens are strongly encouraged to seek opportunities to depart independently on available commercial flights operating from the UAE, Oman, or other countries in the region.
Later this evening, more than 20 Lithuanian citizens are expected to arrive on an airBaltic flight from Dubai to Riga. On 7 March, a GetJet flight from Abu Dhabi to Vilnius is planned. Additionally, seven Lithuanian citizens departed from Oman on an evacuation flight organised by Luxembourg.
